Bicycle
Friendly Community Award Ceremonies Palo Alto issued a proclamation to commemorate the award and hosted a ceremony to unveil their Bicycle Friendly Community sign. Click here to view the proclamation. Boulder put the Bicycle Friendly Community logo within a ribbon design. The image will be used on bus billboards, their cycling map and flyers such as the one pictured. Click here to see the image. Chattanooga put on a poster contest for fourth graders at area elementary schools. Students presented artwork promoting bicycle safety in the community that were judged by students and members of the Chattanooga Bicycle Task Force. Artwork from the contest finalists was displayed at the City Council Meeting that evening where the award took place. Denver used their Bike to Work Day celebration as a great venue to receive their award. The
2003 Bicycle Education Leaders Conference was held in Portland, OR soon
after Corvallis earned a gold-level award. Corvallis' Mayor, Public
Works Director, Transportation Program Specialist, and Bike Commission
Chair all made the trip to receive their Bicycle Friendly Community as
part of a luncheon session during the conference. |
